Eddie is an Aboriginal man, with family links to Wemba the people from Swan Hill (Central Victoria) the Palawa people from Cape Island in Tasmania and the Wotjobaluk people from the Wimmera Region of Victoria. Eddie’s career spans 30 years; and includes working in State Government, not-for-profit organisations, non-government organisations, and peak Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations in South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and currently Victoria. Eddie has an excellent understanding of the complexities and nuances of creating safe and culturally competent organisations for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Eddie has expertise and experience in system re-design, including the development of policy frameworks and training programs. He has a very impressive background and profile, in particular, as a facilitator in Aboriginal cultural training and cultural adviser within the healthcare system. Eddie comes highly recommended as a skilled professional in the Aboriginal space and in providing support to agencies to ensure that they are culturally safe and responsive. Eddie is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Gukwonderuk Indigenous Unit, Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Eddie has a Master of Public Health degree, (Thesis: How can Victorian health services embed Aboriginal health cultural competence into their everyday practice?
