Janice Smith has been in her current role with Charles Sturt University (CSU) since August 2016. She has previously worked in the Public Sector administering Indigenous Education Programs that focused on improving the educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across the education spectrum. Prior to CSU she was a project officer with the University of Newcastle involved in a research project on type 2 diabetes prevention in children aged 10 to 14 years. She plays an integral role within the Indigenous Academic Success Program at CSU, as the Tutorial Coordinator, Indigenous Academic Success, providing input and advice on the program's design, implementation, evaluation and strategies for improvements.
