Zainab Kadhim is a mixed raced writer, musician, spoken-word poet and community arts worker from South-Western Sydney. Her works address themes of social justice, female empowerment and self-reflection. After completing her Masters degree in Environmental Change Management at the University of Technology Sydney, she began working on a sustainability project and now coordinates a storytelling and well-being program through Bankstown Youth Development Service (BYDS), called Stories of Strength which is funded by Multicultural NSW's COMPACT PROGRAM. She has recently been published in Arab, Australian, Other: Stories on Race and Identity as well as the Oral History Australia Journal- Moving Memories: Oral Histories in a Global World in a joint paper with Tim Carroll. In her spare time, she facilitates voice empowerment, song-writing and poetry workshops with young people from refugee and CALD backgrounds.
