A Pitjantjatjara woman from Amata community in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia, Nyunmiti is a Director of Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council. She is a member of NPY Women’s Council’s multi-award winning Uti Kulintjaku Project, an Anangu-led innovation to strengthen mental health and wellbeing, and actively participates in the Project’s developmental evaluation. She has considerable experience in community governance, currently holding positions as an APY Executive Board member and Director of the APY Lands Art Collective. Nyunmiti is a highly regarded spokesperson for the NPY region and has been a key advocate in a number of campaigns to improve the lives of Anangu. She is a qualified teacher and an accomplished Bible translator. In addition, Nyunmiti is a talented and highly acclaimed visual artist, painting through Tjala Arts in Amata and exhibiting her work nationally and internationally. She is a finalist in the 2019 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards.
